Home Bakery Pricing Calculator
Home Bakery Pricing Calculator works out what each thing you bake really costs, and the price that pays you. Type your ingredients the way you buy them and your recipes the way you bake them, in cups or grams, and it adds your time, the oven, the box and your monthly bills to every product.

Made for home and cottage bakers who sell cookies, cakes, cupcakes, bread or treats from home, at markets or by custom order.
What it does for you
- Every cost of a product, split out: ingredients, packaging, your time, the oven and a share of your monthly bills.
- A suggested price from the margin you pick, rounded up to the step you choose ($0.25, $0.50, $1 or $5), and the profit at the price you charge today. Each product reads On target, Under suggested or Losing money.
- Recipes in the units you bake with: cups, tablespoons, teaspoons, sticks, ounces, grams, each or dozen. Buy flour by the pound and use it by the cup: the Conversions tab knows what a cup weighs.
- Conversions: what a cup of 37 common baking ingredients weighs, from a published baking chart, with the source on every row. Weigh your own cup and type it in. The exact US cup, tablespoon, teaspoon, ounce and pound sit beside them.
- Each recipe card costs every line, then the batch, one piece, one serving and a dozen. A recipe that needs something says what.
- Price Builder: one row for each thing you sell, built from up to three recipes (a dozen cookies uses 12 from a batch of 36), with extra minutes to decorate and pack, and the boxes, boards and stickers from Packaging.
- Labor and Overhead: your hourly wage, what an hour of oven time costs from its kW and your power price, and the costs that come anyway (a permit, insurance, a market booth, a new mixer spread over the months you choose).
- Orders: the date, the customer, the product, the deposit and what was paid at pickup. Total, still owed, cost, profit and the status (Booked, Due soon, Paid, Owes you) work themselves out.
- Dashboard: pick any month for sales, costs, profit, margin, what customers still owe you and the pickups in the next 7 days. A Heads up list says what needs you, with the year by month, charted, and your best and losing products.
What is inside (11 tabs)
Start Here, Dashboard, Price Builder, Recipes, Ingredients, Packaging, Labor and Overhead, Orders, Conversions, Setup, AI Prompts.
Room for 50 recipes (25 lines each), 200 ingredients, 100 products and 2,000 orders.
Bonus: Custom Cake Quote
A second workbook. Type the tiers (round or square, the size, the flavor and the finish), the decorations and the delivery miles, and it works out the servings at wedding or party slices, the quote rounded up, the deposit that holds the date and when the balance is due. Then it writes the message to send your customer. Set your prices per serving, your finishes and your fees once.
73 copy-paste AI prompts
Grow the file: ask an AI inside your spreadsheet (Copilot in Excel, Claude for Excel, Gemini in Google Sheets) and 21 prompts have it add what you need: a Customers tab, a bake plan for the week, a pickup calendar, a market day sheet, a printable order form, a monthly sales goal, charts, sales tax, a delivery fee, wholesale prices, or a recipe from your card.
Read your numbers: 25 prompts have the same AI tell you what the numbers you typed mean: what needs you this week, what is eating your profit, what you really earn an hour, how many sales cover your bills, which prices to raise first, your best customers and your sales trend. These change nothing.
Any AI chat (ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini): 8 prompts already carry your numbers from the sheet, so they work in any AI, and 19 read the attached file: a price-increase message to your regulars, which products to drop, a customer menu, your order policy, a holiday menu or a market day, a summary for your tax preparer, and more. A few come in two forms.
The AI tools are not included: each comes with its own plan, and Copilot in Excel needs Microsoft 365.
Good to know
- Sample data (one made-up home bakery with ten products and a year of orders) shows how it works, and its dates move with the day you open it. Type over it, or clear it and start fresh.
- The formulas are locked so they cannot break. The yellow cells are the ones you type in. Google Sheets does not lock them, so in Sheets type only in the yellow cells.
- This file does arithmetic for your prices and profit. It is not legal or tax advice, and the rules for selling food from home differ by state: check yours.
- For your own business. Please do not resell or share the files.
